Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a chronic and often disabling condition that is highly prevalent in military veterans. Epigenetic mechanisms have been implicated in the etiology of PTSD, with DNA methylation being the most studied to identify novel biomarkers associated with this disorder.
