Chemical precipitation method was used to prepare CeO2-Fe2O3 combined oxides with different Fe/Ce ratios as the oxygen carriers. The oxygen carriers were tested in the fixed bed micro reactor to investigate the reactivity of the prepared samples in methane conversion (reduction reaction) and water splitting (oxidation reaction) steps at different operating temperatures (700-900 °C). It was found that the Fe-Ce-3 oxygen carrier (Fe/Ce = 1) showed the best performance among the other ones. Also, the performance of the Fe-Ce-3 was evaluated at 850 °C in 10 repetitive redox cycles. It showed a durable production of syngas and hydrogen without significant deactivation for the successive redox reactions.Graphical abstract
