Pneumothorax and Air Bronchogram in Transthoracic Ultrasound: Basic Considerations

We have read the article by Chiappetta et al. (2018) on the possibility of using lung ultrasound (LUS) as the exam of choice instead of chest X-ray to detect possible complications after thoracic surgery. Despite the results reported by the authors (even if based on a small sample), the ultrasound diagnosis of pneumothorax in these patients is not always so sensitive and specific.
