03: Effect of perioperative transfusion on postoperative morbidity following minimally invasive hysterectomy

Allogeneic blood transfusion for anemia correction before surgery has been independently associated with postoperative morbidity and mortality in multiple surgical fields. Blood transfusion has been identified as one of the most overused treatments in US hospitals and is associated with a significant health care expenditure. Our objective is to investigate the impact of preoperative blood transfusion on postoperative complications following laparoscopic hysterectomy done for benign indications.
