This study aimed to compare the magnitude of educational inequalities in self-reported and examination-based hypertension and hypercholesterolemia and to assess the impact of self-reported measurement error on health inequality indicators.MethodsWe used the Portuguese National Health Examination Survey data (n = 4911). The slope index of inequality (SII) and the relative index of inequality (RII) were used to determine the magnitude of absolute and relative education-related inequalities.ResultsAmong the 25 –49-year-old (yo) men, absolute and relative inequalities were smaller for self-reported than for...

ConclusionA large number of older adults expressed concerns about falling and we also found several factors to be associated with developing FOF, supporting the need for screening. Thus, further research is needed in order to understand the relationship between severity of FOF and actual fall events for developing preventive measures which can be implemented before FOF becomes a problem.

This study aims at evaluating the prevalence of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in a group of 319 hypertensive patients with stage 3b –4–5 chronic kidney disease (according to Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes classification), compared with 216 patients with essential hypertension and normal renal function. All patients underwent echocardiographic examination. Patients on stage 1–2–3a chronic kidney disease, dialysi s treatment, or with previous manifestations of heart failure or other cardiovascular diseases were excluded. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that the IRE1α-XBP1 pathway is involved in the process of hypoxia-induced pulmonary vascular remodeling; 4u8c could restrain hypoxia-induced cell proliferation and migration and reverse the hypoxia-induced apoptosis arrest, while quercetin excited excessive ERS and the IRE1α pathway in hypoxic PASMCs and promoted apoptosis. Our data suggest that intervening the IRE1α-XBP1 pathway may be useful for hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension therapy. PMID: 30899368 [PubMed]
