Walgreens paying $269M to settle health-care fraud lawsuits

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. will pay more than $269 million to settle two separate healthcare fraud lawsuits with the federal government. In the first settlement, the government said Deerfield, Illinois-based Walgreens (Nasdaq: WBA) will pay $209.2 million to resolve allegations that it improperly billed Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health-care programs for hundreds of thousands of insulin pens it "knowingly dispensed to pr ogram beneficiaries who did not need them."
