Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a novel independent predictor of severe exacerbation in patients with asthma

Severe exacerbations are well-known complications of asthma that increase the total and asthma-related health care costs1 and decrease the quality of life of patients.2 Although some exacerbation predictors have been reported,3,4 it is difficult to predict and prevent severe exacerbations in a large percentage of patients affected by asthma.
