In this study we have generated a recombinant NNV (rNNV) vaccine produced in Escherichia coli expressing the capsid protein and administered it to European sea bass juveniles by two different routes (intraperitoneal and oral). The last being considered non-stressful and desired for fish farming of small fish, which in fact are the most affected by NNV. Oral vaccine was composed of feed pellets containing the recombinant whole bacteria, and injected vaccine was composed of recombinant bacteria previously lysed. Our results revealed production of specific anti-NNV IgM following the two vaccination procedures, levels that wer...

This study reports the development of a monoclonal antibody (designated 3B10) against the muskellunge (Esox masquinongy) IgM. The 3B10 monoclonal antibody (mAb) belongs to the IgG3 kappa isotype. Western blotting demonstrated that 3B10 mAb reacted primarily to muskellunge IgM heavy chain. 3B10 also reacted strongly with the IgM heavy chain of other esocids, including the northern pike (Esox lucius), tiger muskellunge (E. masquinongy x E. lucius), and, to a much lesser extent, the chain pickerel (E. niger). The 3B10 mAb did not bind to IgM from 10 other fish species resident in the Great Lakes basin. Using the 3B10 mAb, it ...

AbstractCervical cancer continues to be a global health problem; despite the potential for prevention through organised screening programmes that can detect and treat pre-cancerous lesions and also more recently, the availability of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccines. While routine screening with Pap smear testing has reduced the burden of cervical cancer in the high-income countries, the implementation of organised Pap-based screening programmes has not been found feasible in low-resource settings due to a lack of health care delivery infrastructure and limited health budgets. The well-established causal relationship be...

Alany, Amr ElShaerAbstractQuantitative analysis using proton NMR (1H qNMR) has been employed in various areas such as pharmaceutical analysis (e.g., dissolution study), vaccines, natural products analysis, metabolites, and macrolide antibiotics in agriculture industry. However, it is not routinely used in the quantification of saccharides in dry powder inhaler (DPI) formulations. The aim of this study was to develop a 1H NMR method for the qua...
