Breast Cancer Risk After Recent Childbirth: A Pooled Analysis of 15 Prospective Studies

This analysis concludes that compared with nulliparous women, parous women have an increased risk for breast cancer for more than 20 years after childbirth. Health care providers should consider recent childbirth a risk factor for breast cancer in young women.

Conclusion: Using a mathematical framework, we showed that the combination therapy of mTOR and STAT3 genes yields the best apoptosis in breast cancer. Significance: The computational results we arrived at are consistent with the experimental results that we obtained using Cryptotanshinone on MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines and also by the past results of others from the literature, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness of our model.

AbstractA balanced robertsonian translocation (rob) results from fusion of 2 acrocentric chromosomes. Carriers are phenotypically normal and are often diagnosed because of recurrent miscarriages, infertility, or aneuploid offspring. Mortality and site-specific cancer risks in carriers have not been prospectively investigated. We followed 1,987 carriers diagnosed in Great Britain for deaths and cancer risk, over an average of 24.1 years. Standardized mortality and incidence ratios were calculated comparing the number of observed events against population rates. Overall mortality was higher for carriers diagnosed before age ...

miR‑378a‑3p inhibits cellular proliferation and migration in glioblastoma multiforme by targeting tetraspanin 17. Oncol Rep. 2019 Aug 20;: Authors: Guo XB, Zhang XC, Chen P, Ma LM, Shen ZQ Abstract Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive brain tumor and patients with this disease tend to have poor clinical outcome. MicroRNAs (miRs) are important regulators of a number of key pathways implicated in tumor pathogenesis. Recently, the expression of miR‑378 was shown to be dysregulated in several different types of cancer, including gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and oral ca...

Expression of LXR‑β, ABCA1 and ABCG1 in human triple‑negative breast cancer tissues. Oncol Rep. 2019 Aug 14;: Authors: Pan H, Zheng Y, Pan Q, Chen H, Chen F, Wu J, Di D Abstract Previous studies have reported that liver X receptor (LXR), ATP‑binding cassette sub‑family G number 1 (ABCG1) and ATP‑binding cassette transporter number 1 (ABCA1), which are associated with cholesterol metabolism, may be associated with the development and progression of breast cancer. The expression levels of LXR‑β, ABCA1 and ABCG1 in triple‑negative breast cancer (TNBC) tissues and in non‑canc...

In this study, we reported that RAD54B was amplified and the expression of RAD54B was elevated in BC, as identified through a bioinformatics analysis of open databases (cBioPortal and Oncomine) and an immunohistochemical analysis of a tissue microarray (TMA). Analysis of Kaplan-Meier plotter (KM plotter) showed that high RAD54B transcription activity was critically linked with poor prognosis of BC patients, in particular those with the luminal A subtype. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) performed on dataset GSE1456 demonstrated that gene expression signatures associated with survival, proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosi...

We describe extensions of the iterated reweighted least-squares algorithm for fitting generalized linear regression models using the proposed framework. Based on the same moment equations, we also develop a diagnostic test for detecting violations of underlying model assumptions, such as those arising from heterogeneity in the underlying study populations. The proposed methods are illustrated with extensive simulation studies and a real-data example involving the development of a breast cancer risk prediction model using disparate risk factor information from multiple studies. ConclusionsIt was concluded that cultural/immigration-related barriers may be the only barrier type that is unique to racial/ethnic minority women. Thus, designing studies of barriers around race and ethnicity is not always appropriate, and other demographic factors are sometimes a more important focus. The variability in ‘barrier’ definitions, how data were collected and reported, and the appropriateness of closed-ended measures was also examined. This literature may benefit from detailed and strategically designed studies that allow more clear-cut conclusions and better comparison across studies as well as im...
