Long Head of Biceps Tendon Transfer for Anterior Shoulder Instability

We describe a technique variation for the treatment of recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation: the long head of biceps tendon transfer. This technique follows the same crucial “sling effect” of the Bristow-Latarjet without the risk of coracoid bone block complications or scapular dyskinesis due to detachment of the conjoined tendon and pectoralis minor from the scapula. Moreover, it can be used with capsule-labrum repair.
