Third Molar Patient Education Materials

Laskin et  al1 recently reported that viewing an informational video discussing the removal of impacted teeth did not reduce, and may have even exacerbated, patient anxiety. This led the authors to recommend that verbal and written information be provided at the initial consultation appointment to supplement informed consent and reinforce the positive aspects of treatment. Adding to the discussion of patient education materials (PEMs), some readers may be interested in the content and readability of existing online PEMs that patients may already be using for third molar surgery.
