9.4 OCD Camp: Combining Exposure and Response Prevention and Adventure Therapy for Youth and Young Adults With OCD

Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard psychotherapy for OCD and has been found to be highly effective across numerous treatment trials for youth and adolescents. However, not all patients benefit from ERP for a variety of reasons (ie, treatment refusal, treatment dropout, low motivation). Thus, there is a need to identify novel ways to augment and enhance existing evidence-based treatments for OCD for some patients. Adventure therapy (AT) has been applied and studied in youth with a wide range of mental health concerns.
