Sep 15, Matataro Matsumoto: Today in the History of Psychology (15th September 1865)

Matataro Matsumoto was born. A profoundly influential figure in the history of Japanese psychology, Matsumoto earned his doctoral degree under the supervision of Edward W. Scripture at Yale University in 1899 and spent a year working with Wilhelm Wundt at the University of Leipzig in Germany. On his return to Japan, Matsumoto established experimental psychology laboratories in Tokyo and Kyoto and was instrumental in the founding and organization of the Japanese Psychological Association.
