What is hysteroscopic morcellation of uterine leiomyomas (fibroids)? NICE is looking at a very specific type of procedure which is called ‘hysteroscopic morcellation of uterine leiomyomas (fibroids). In this procedure, a small metal tube (a hysteroscope) is put inserted through the vagina and into the womb through the cervix. A small instrument with a specially designed tip is inserted through the tube and used to break the fibroids down into small pieces (morcellation). The fibroids are then removed. NICE welcomes comments from patients, or the parents or carers of patients who have experience of this procedure, but also from any patient or carer who would like to comment on the guidance in general. Practical information Dates The public consultation period will run for 4 weeks, and will start on the 24 October running until the 24 November 2014. During this period anyone is allowed to comment on the draft recommendations that are published on the NICE website. How can I comment?
