Guiding Principles for the Care of People With or at Risk for Diabetes

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases has updated guidelines to assist primary care providers and healthcare teams to deliver diabetes care, including for those at risk. Emphasized are the importance of self-management, of providing patient-centered care and of using shared decision making in diabetes prevention and treatment. There is also a new principle included to address overweight and obesity in the management of diabetes. Download the Guiding Principles here.
