Easy-Bake fossils

(Field Museum) Scientists have discovered a new way to simulate the fossilization process in a lab in about 24 hours. They take materials like feathers, lizard feet, and leaves and cook them in a lab oven under heat and pressure conditions that mimic what real fossils undergo. These 'Easy-Bake fossils' give us a better idea of how fossilization works and what kinds of biological materials can become fossils.
