The Radial Forearm Flap: A Technique Modification for Oral Cavity Composite Defects Involving a Marginal Mandibulectomy

The radial forearm flap (RFFF) is a versatile reconstructive option for oral cavity defects that benefits from its ease of harvest, abundant tissue and long pedicle length. Microvascular free flaps have a reported success rate of 94-96% in the literature. In our practice, between 2014 and 2018, we have had a success rate of 99.2%, with less then 1% requiring a return trip to the operating room for vascular compromise.
