Luisa Fernández-Sánchez, José Manuel Costa-Fernández, Jorge Ruiz Encinar, Alfredo Sanz-MedelAbstractProtein and peptide detection with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) can provide their direct and reliable absolute quantification without the need for specific standards, which greatly complements molecular mass spectrometry features in proteomics. We discuss recent research to shed new light on this particular surge in the analytical applicability of ICP-MS and identify possible niches that could attract future analytical activity within this emerging field.
