Prevention of deep sternal wound infection in cardiac surgery, review of literature

ConclusionWe identified several measures preventing deep sternal wound infection after cardiac surgery not frequently applied in current practices. We recommend an update of guidelines on prevention of surgical site infection in cardiac surgery.
