Hypoglycaemia in patients with cystic fibrosis- harbinger of poor outcomes or innocent bystander?

Everyone who has provided endocrine care to patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) has been confronted with hypoglycaemia. It is a common complaint from our patients, yet despite the frequency of hypoglycaemia in people with CF both with and without diabetes mellitus, to date, the literature surrounding hypoglycaemia in CF remains inadequate and secondarily to this, our understanding of the pathophysiology, significance and appropriate treatment of this disorder remain poor.
