Pharma company facing opioid lawsuits lays off salesforce

OxyContin manufacturer Purdue Pharma LP has laid off about 350 employees including the remainder of its sales staff as the beleaguered company carries through with a promise to stop promoting opioids to doctors and shift its focus to different drugs.   “Purdue Pharma is taking significant steps to transform and diversify beyond our historic focus of pain medications,” Purdue said in a statement.  OxyContin generated $1.8 billion in sales in 2017, per Reuters.
