Mo1135 INR IS SUPERIOR TO THE GLASGOW-BLATCHFORD SCORE FOR RISK STRATIFYING PATIENTS WITH COFFEE GROUND EMESIS

Upper endoscopy (EGD) is frequently requested in patients presenting to the emergency department with coffee ground emesis (CGE). However, EGD findings are frequently benign and the necessity of urgent interventions in these patients is unclear. While risk stratification instruments for upper gastrointestinal bleeding such as the Glasgow-Blatchford score (GBS) have been previously reported, these scoring systems have not been validated in low risk patients presenting with CGE alone (without frank bright red vomitus).
