Senior lands $25K scholarship for Parkinson's research

Erin Smith, a Kansas City graduating senior, landed a $25,000 scholarship from the Taco Bell Foundation for her tool to diagnose Parkinson's disease early. Smith, a senior at Shawnee Mission West High School, was honored for her work when she won the International BioGENEius Challenge last year. She developed her technology, Faceprint, using facial recognition software to see if it would be possible to diagnose Parkinson's patients early by measuring changes in their facial expression.
