Tailoring Radiology Resident Education Using Aggregated Missed-Cases Data

Although there has been a recent trend toward after-hours attending coverage for interpretation of imaging studies, residents at many teaching hospitals begin independent call during postgraduate year 3  after 12 months of dedicated radiology training [1,2]. Given this relatively short period to acquire the substantial amount of information necessary to safely interpret studies independently, the task of preparing radiology residents for this duty is critically important [3]. It is a daunting ta sk given the scope and variety of potential pathologies likely to be encountered during call.
