Antibiotics by Subcutaneous Route: A Safe and Efficient Alternative

Infectious diseases represent a common cause of morbidity and mortality in older persons and have deleterious effects if effective treatment is not received. Antibiotics are usually given by the oral, intravenous, or intramuscular route, with proven efficacy. However, in specific situations and in certain patients, it becomes necessary to use alternative routes for drug administration.
