Update of the 6-Item Brief Geriatric Assessment Screening Tool of Older Inpatients at Risk for Long Length of Hospital Stay: Results From a Prospective and Observational Cohort Study

Chronic multimorbidities and disabilities characterize older inpatients, who are the fastest-increasing group of patients admitted to hospitals.1 Because hospitals are configured for disease-oriented and episodic model rather than chronic multimorbidities and disabilities, adverse outcomes like long length of hospital stay are one of the main challenges that hospitals face.1 –3 Assessing the needs of the growing number of older inpatients is, thus, a priority to reduce the occurrence of adverse outcomes.
