Vasctrac Study: Accuracy of Activity Tracking Using Smartphones in PAD Patients

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) patients with disabling claudication (Rutherford III or worse) are often treated medically or surgically to improve their functional activity. However, we do not typically measure objective, patient reported, measures of functional activity. More commonly, we measure Ankle Brachial Indices (ABIs), obtain imaging studies and rely on the subjective recall of a patient ’s symptoms. This is true during our initial evaluation as well as post intervention- Are we measuring the right metrics? We believe there is value in investigating ways to track a patient’s activity in the real world- to obtain patient centered outcomes both pre- and post-intervention.
