A huge infected necrotic submucosal leiomyoma in association with advanced uterovaginal prolapse

Uterine leiomyomas are the most common tumors of the genital tract of women of reproductive age [1]. However, prolapsed uterine leiomyoma is found in about 2.5% of uterine surgical specimens [2], moreover it is known that pelvic masses are risk factors for pelvic organ prolapse [3]. Nevertheless, the association of a huge infected necrotic submucosal leiomyoma with advanced uterovaginal prolapse is extremely rare and we would like to add the image of a case to the literature.
