Even doctors who work full time in the lab (e.g. histopathologists) will have spent many years seeing and treating patients on the wards, in clinics, in A&E etc. A medical degree does teach you all about the body, but it teaches you to think in a clinical and practical way too - you need to be interested in that side of it too.
