Prognostic and Predictive Markers in CLL

In spite of important progress in their management, survival of patients with CLL is highly variable and ranges from less than 5 years to a normal lifespan. Developed more than 30 years ago, clinical staging systems independently devised by Rai et al. and Binet et al. based on physical examination and blood cell counts have been the mainstay for estimating prognosis in patients with CLL.
