Comparison of ct and MRI on the detection and quantification of carotid artery calcification: The rotterdam study
Aim: Carotid artery atherosclerosis is an important risk factor for stroke. As such, quantification of carotid artery calcification, as a proxy of atherosclerosis, has become an important topic in stroke-research. Yet, population based studies are lacking in comparing these imaging modalities on the ability to detect and quantify calcification and which modality is most effective.
