Call for Letters to the Editor From Student and Resident Authors

Academic Medicine is seeking original submissions for our Letters to the Editor feature from residents and medical students on the topic of transitions in training. This includes but is certainly not limited to reflections on the application and selection processes for undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education (GME), or post-GME positions; different curricular approaches to preparing learners for these transitions; development of professional identity; cultivation of new skills and responsibilities; or other issues you find important at times of major changes. If you have thoughts on some aspect of the topic of transitions in training you’d like to share, please see our requirements for Letters to the Editor and submit your letter by September 18, 2017. The editors will be looking for letters that offer thoughtful reflections, new insights, and hopefully creative suggestions related to the challenges faced in this area. We want to hear directly from our learners! Although students and residents are welcome to seek input from faculty mentors, we ask that all submissions be authored by only learners. Faculty members may be thanked in an acknowledgments section if appropriate, but should not make contributions that qualify for authorship. When you submit, please add a note stating that you are submitting your letter in response to our call for submissions from residents and medical students.
