Comparative and analytical study on active toxoplasmosis to assess the IgG avidity in correlation to serological profile in a cohort of Egyptian patients
AbstractProper diagnosis of toxoplasmosis is very important for proper treatment in manifested cases and to prevent congenital toxoplasmosis in case of pregnancy. Screening of 180 pregnant females by automated immune assay forToxoplasma IgG and IgM Abs was done first then positive cases and some of negative cases were evaluated for theToxoplasma IgG avidity test versusToxoplasma IgM and IgA Abs using ELISA technique for the detection of active toxoplasmosis during gestation using IHA rising titer as reference test. Assessment ofToxoplasma IgM by ELISA compared with rising titer of IHA as a reference test revealed that the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPP of IgM by ELISA were 66.67, 88.73, 42.86, and 95.45%, respectively. Assessment ofToxoplasma IgA Abs by ELISA compared with rising titer IHA as a reference test showed that the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPP of IgA Abs by ELISA were 44.4, 92.96, 44.4, and 92.96%, respectively. Additionally, by assessment ofToxoplasma IgG avidity compared with rising titer of IHA as a reference test, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPP ofToxoplasma IgG avidity were 100, 98.59, 90%, and 100%, respectively. Detection of specificToxoplasma IgMantibodies by ELISA is not always sufficient in the diagnosis of early and lateToxoplasma gondiiinfection during pregnancy, becauseToxoplasma-specific IgM antibodies may persist as long as 18 months after acute acquired infection. Thus, the specific IgG avidity test should be used a...
ConclusionThere was heterogeneity regarding ESBL-E colonisation rates in different continents. The pooled prevalence rate was higher in Africa compared with other areas. Given that the highest rate was observed in Africa, implementing screening efforts for ESBL-E colonisation during pregnancy may be justified.
Conclusions: Our study demonstrated multiple obstacles to achieving the goal of preventing MIT of HBV. Comprehensive public health programs to enhance vaccine coverage rate, supply HBV vaccine for out-born neonates, screening maternal HBV markers, treating highly viremic pregnant mothers are proposed to overcome these obstacles and achieve the goal of preventing MIT of HBV.
ConclusionsAlong with previously recognized predictors of GDM and pre-GDM, FN ethnicity was an independent determinant of DIP in Saskatchewan from 1980 to 2013. Early maternal/child birth complications were increased in both FN and non-FN with DIP, but more so in FN. Effective DIP prevention strategies, and improvements in pre-conception, prenatal and perinatal care are required to remove ethnicity-based disparities in DIP rates and outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS: Current ultrasound fetal anthropometry is not strongly helpful, but the values of anthropometric formulas provided by future ultrasound are expected especially as the primary screening of LGA. PMID: 31741367 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSIONS: In an IVF cycle, optimal ovarian response and pregnancy outcome is associated with stimulation duration of at least 9 days. Both accelerated and delayed follicular recruitment are indicators for suboptimal response. PMID: 31741366 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

BACKGROUND: Many researchers emphasize adaptations following pregnancy. Our purpose was to get more insight into how morphology interacts with the pelvic walking pattern - the segment most prone to the adaptation following altered body demands. MET...
