ConclusionIn patients where surgery was performed for non-inflammatory sinus disease, turbinate resection is not correlated with poorer postoperative nasal obstruction, sinonasal function nor sleep quality.
ConclusionsFor many patients, at-home administration of omalizumab or mepolizumab may be a cost-effective strategy.
We report post hoc analyses of pooled data from duplicate, placebo-controlled Phase 3 trials. Patients aged 12–75 with inadequately controlled, moderate-to-severe asthma were randomized 1:1 to receive intravenous reslizumab 3.0 mg/kg or placebo every 4 weeks for 52 weeks, stratified by oral corticosteroid use at enrollment and by region. Assessments included efficacy and predictors of clinical asthma exacerbation response in oral corticosteroid-dependent patients, and systemic corticosteroids burden in the overall population.RESULTSPatients were randomized to reslizumab (n = 477) or placebo (n = 476); 73 (15%) patien...
ConclusionPatients with uncontrolled asthma used the portal irregularly if at all, despite in-person training. Usage was not associated with regular appointments or with clinical outcomes. Patient portals need modification to accommodate low-income patients with uncontrolled asthma.
CONCLUSIONS: we found an association between SIBO and allergic disease, especially allergic rhinitis, cow's milk protein allergy and asthma. Thus, SIBO should be ruled out in pediatric patients with CAP and allergic disease. PMID: 31617366 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Abstract Humoral immunological defects are frequent and important causes of hypogammaglobulinemia, leading to recurrent infections, autoimmunity, allergies, and neoplasias. Usually, its onset occurs in childhood or during the second and third decades of life; however, the diagnosis is made, on average, 6 to 7 years afterwards. As a consequence, antibody defects can lead to sequelae. Here we describe the clinical-laboratory characteristics, treatment, and prognoses of patients with hypogammaglobulinemia. An observational, cross-sectional, and retrospective study of patients attending the recently established outpat...

This study aimed to extend previous research regarding the risk of psoriasis in children with asthma to an entire population subdivided by age.MethodsThe 2002 ‐2013 Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service–National Sample Cohort (HIRA‐NSC) was used. The 167,693 participants with asthma were matched with 167,693 control participants for age, sex, income, region of residence, hypertension history, diabetes history, and dyslipidemia histor y. In both the asthma and control groups, the occurrences of asthma were investigated. The crude and adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) f...
Abstract OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the adherence to asthma evidence-based guidelines before and after a quality improvement process. DESIGN: A controlled trial was conducted at two regional hospitals (intervention and control hospitals). We performed a retrospective pre-intervention audit, followed by a post-intervention audit 1 year after the implementation of evidence-based guidelines. SETTING: Emergency departments of two neighbouring hospitals serving regional and rural North West Tasmania. PARTICIPANTS: All children (
