Heavy lift ahead for healthcare; women's coverage could be hit hard
The bill repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act is headed to the Senate, where lawmakers are intent on giving it a major overhaul.
Senators will undoubtedly be lobbied hard by constituents over coverage of pre-existing conditions, a particular point of concern for women. As Quartz writes, being female is essentially a pre-existing condition as under the American Health Care Act, coverage could be declined for sexual assault, domestic violence and C-section deliveries.
