ON THE COVER: A photomicrograph of neuromuscular junctions in a normal control mouse triangular sterni muscle. Acetylcholine receptors on the postsynaptic membrane are stained red with alphabungarotoxin, and the motor axons are stained green with neurofilament NF150 and synaptotagmin‐2 antibodies. In mice with mutations of the Vamp1 (vesicle associated membrane protein 1), which causes a congenital myasthenic syndrome similar to humans, the neuromuscular junctions are smaller.
