Moving from Diversity to Inclusion: The Experience of a 9/11 Survivor and His Guide Dog

The NIH Section 508 Program in partnership with the independent blind and low-vision resource sharing group, 3 Blind Mice, are proud to continue the National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme #InclusionWorks in a special event. Please join us for “ Moving from Diversity to Inclusion: How to change our perceptions about disabilities and overcome our own inner handicaps, ” on November 14th from 1:00PM-2:00PM on the NIH Main Campus, Building 10, Lipsett Amphitheater. This event will be presented by Michael Hingson, survivor of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, #1 New York Times Best Seller and renowned international speaker. Fifteen years ago, on the morning of September 11, 2001, a violent act of terrorism changed America forever. The coordinated hijacking of four American passenger planes resulted in the greatest loss of life on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor. On this anniversary year, as we remember the events which occurred 15 years ago, and honor the 2,996 people we lost that day, we also recognize the survivors. One such survivor, Michael Hingson, who has been blind since birth, has shared the harrowing story of that day, walking down 78 flights of stairs guided by his guide dog, Roselle, and is recounted in his #1 New York Times Best Seller Thunder Dog.
