Sesquiterpenoids from Ainsliaea spicata and their cytotoxic and NO production inhibitory activities

Their structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. All isolates were evaluated for cytotoxicity against three human tumor cell lines 95D, MDA-MB-231, HepG2. The dimeric sesquiterpene lactone 38 showed significant inhibitory activity against three tested human tumor cell lines with IC50 values of 9.10, 3.82, and 1.43μM, respectively. Compound 6 exhibited moderate activity toward MDA-MB-231 and HepG2, with IC50 values of 18.91, and 11.16μM, respectively. Furthermore, four new compounds 1–4 were evaluated for the inhibition of LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW264.7 macrophages, and none of them showed NO production-inhibitory activities (IC50 >30μM).
