[Comment] Detection of a novel Lyme borreliosis pathogen

Ticks are vectors of many pathogens of human beings, wildlife, and livestock. Several tick-borne pathogens pose serious threats to public and animal health and cause substantial economic loss.1 Lyme borreliosis, the most common tick-borne disease in the northern hemisphere, is caused by spirochaetes that belong to a group of genospecies called Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato.2
