Data on protocol biopsies (PBs) after pediatric kidney transplantation are rare. We evaluated 6-month post-transplantation renal function in 86 children after PB as observational study. Patients were divided into 3 groups: 1.PB pathological findings absent, no intervention (n = 44);2.pathological findings but stable serum creatinine so no intervention (n = 27);3.pathological findings (borderline rejection (borderline) Banff classification (Banff) Ia or IIa), increased serum creatinine 20%, therapy initiated (n = 15). Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and delta GFR were determined. 1.Group 1: Mean GFR was 79...

(ERA-EDTA) The risk of death is relatively high in kidney transplant patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19. Advanced age is the most important risk factor for death but, unlike in the general population, male sex, diabetes and cardiovascular disease do not appear to increase this risk. Younger, healthier patients may not be at special risk if they adhere strictly to hygiene and social distancing advice.

Contributors : Fadi G Lakkis ; Khodor Abou-DayaSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Mus musculusAbstract: Immunological memory specific to previously encountered antigens is a cardinal feature of adaptive lymphoid cells. It is not known however whether innate myeloid cells retain memory of prior antigenic stimulation and respond to it more vigorously upon a second encounter. Here, we show that murine monocytes and macrophages acquire memory specific to MHC-I antigens and identify paired immunoglobulin-like receptors-A (PIR-A) as the MHC-I receptors necessary for the memory response. We...

This study aims to assess the anti-inflammatory effects of colchicine in non-severe hospitalized COVID-19 patients.Trial designProspective, randomized (1:1 ratio), double blind study with parallel group design.ParticipantsHospitalized patients with positive nasopharyngeal swab for COVID-19 infection (RT -PCR) and lung Computed tomography scan involvement compatible with COVID-19 pneumonia. The patients are not severely hypoxic, do not need intubation or invasive oxygenation.Exclusion criteria: known hypersensitivity to colchicine; known hepatic failure; estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)450 msec.Participants will ...

AbstractBackgroundKidney dysfunction frequently occurred after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). Chronic renal disease (CKD) is a complicated problem and is associated with increased mortality. The aim of this study is to find the risk factors for the incidence of CKD at 1  year after OLT in China.MethodsFrom January 2017 to December 2017, we retrospectively assessed 280 recipients in our single center. Chronic renal failure was defined as estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)

A comparison of pre-clinical transplant models and of solid organs transplanted in routine clinical practice demonstrates that the liver is most amenable to the development of immunological tolerance. This phenomenon arises in the absence of stringent conditioning regimens that accompany published tolerizing protocols for other organs, particularly the kidney. The unique immunologic properties of the liver have assisted our understanding of the alloimmune response and how it can be manipulated to improve graft function and survival. This review will address important findings following liver transplantation in both animals...
