Authors: Vassilopoulou L, Matalliotakis M, Zervou MI, Matalliotaki C, Spandidos DA, Matalliotakis I, Goulielmos GN Abstract The aim of the present review was to discuss a matter of concern in the clinical field of obstetrics/gynecology, namely the potency of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the management of endometriosis-associated infertility. Endometriosis is a medical condition affecting one tenth of women in their fertile years, and accounts for up to 50% of infertile women. Thus, such high prevalence has established the necessity for investigating the effectiveness of available techniques in eradicating the di...

Publication date: Available online 18 August 2018Source: Carbohydrate PolymersAuthor(s): Xianqun Cai, Shengxue Hu, Bangrui Yu, Yilei Cai, Jianmin Yang, Feng Li, Yunquan Zheng, Xianai ShiAbstractPeritoneal adhesion is a general complication following pelvic and abdominal surgery, which may lead to chronic abdominal pain, bowel obstruction, organ injury, and female infertility. Biodegradable polymer membranes have been suggested as physical barriers to prevent peritoneum adhesion. In this work, a transglutaminase (TGase)-catalyzed crosslinked carboxymethyl chitosan/carboxymethyl cellulose/collagen (CMCS/CMCL/COL) composite a...

Most patients going through IVF treatment are fed up of hearing the advice that they should just relax and not get stressed out.Everyone knows that stress is not good for you , and no one chooses to be stressed, but telling people to relax is hardly helpful. After all, how do you implement advice like that? Stress is a completely normal human psychological response – especially when you are going through an expensive  treatment like IVF, where the outcome is so uncertain.I'm a strong believer in the fact that it's not stress which affects fertility - it's the infertility which causes stress . I ’m sure if ...

Many infertile patients get major heartburn when they realize that they aren't able to afford test tube baby treatments because they are so expensive. They can't understand why IVF doctors charge so much, and lots of patients end up thinking of IVF clinics as being greedy.Patients need to understand that part of test tube baby treatment is clinical – and this is what the patient sees. This includes: consultations, blood tests, ultrasound scans, egg collection, and embryo transfer. However, the heart of the IVF treatment is the IVF laboratory, and the patient doesn ’t get to see what goes on behind the scenes in ...

Conclusion:Taken together, murine uterine damage models were most successfully established by chemical treatment. This production protocols could be applied further to larger animals such as non-human primate.

AbstractIn this paper a dynamic model is suggested in order to predict treatment results for infertility of couples. For this purpose, five basic groups of couples are examined. These groups are: susceptible couples, patient couples, couples under treatment taking medicine only, those under treatment using surgery and cured ones. The main aim is to find an asymptotically stable free equilibrium point for this model. The method benefits from scrutinizing the dynamical model deeply. We show that there is another equilibrium point that is not signed stable. In addition, we solve this model numerically via Rung –Kutta me...

As SCs play a central role in germ cesurvival, their death may results in marked germ cell loss and infertility (Eid et al., 2012; Oliveira et al., 2015). As SCs play a central role in germ cell survival, their death may result in marked germ cell loss and infertility (Eid et al., 2012; Oliveira et al., 2015). As SCs play a central role in germ cell survival, their death may result in marked germ cell loss and infertility (Eid et al., 2012; Oliveira et al., 2015). Sertoli cells (SCs) are the only somatic cells within the seminiferous tubules and are essential for regulating spermatogenesis.

NLRP3 is part of the NLRP3 inflammasome and a global sensor of cellular damage. It was recently discovered in rodent Sertoli cells. We investigated NLRP3 in mouse, human and non-human primate (marmoset and rhesus macaque) testes, employing immunohistochemistry. Sertoli cells of all species expressed NLRP3, and the expression preceded puberty. In addition, peritubular cells of the adult human testes expressed NLRP3. NLRP3 and associated genes (PYCARD, CASP1, IL1B) were also found in isolated human testicular peritubular cells and the mouse Sertoli cell line TM4. Male infertility due to impairments of spermatogenesis may be ...

In conclusion, in this study, we demonstrated for the first time a novel target for FXR and that the activated receptor alters the acquisition of sperm fertilising ability. We showed that sperm itself express the FXR and it is responsive to specific ligands of the receptor; therefore, bile acids influence this cell both in male and in female genital tracts. It might be hypothesized that bile acid levels could be involved in infertility with idiopathic origin as these compounds are not systematically measured in men undergoing medically assisted procreation.
