ONE: Ventral permission slip
Memphis as Usual unexpectedly took the week off last week while I was laid up, recuperating from outpatient surgery.
I had an abdominal hernia repair — or, as I was corrected by an anesthetist, I had a ventral hernia repair.
"I don't even know what that is," I told him, when he asked if ventral was what I meant to say instead of abdominal.
