Open Versus Minimally Invasive Emergent Colectomy for Diverticulitis

DISCUSSION: Compared to planned open colectomy, MIS resection was associated with improved clinical and financial outcomes, even in cases of CTO. Our findings suggest that whenever possible, MIS should be attempted first in emergent colectomy for diverticulitis.
