CD44 and hyaluronan promote the BMP7 signaling response in chondrocytes

Conclusion: Taken together, these investigations into the mechanisms underlying BMP7 signaling in chondrocytes reveal that while hyaluronan‐dependent pericellular matrix is critical for BMP7 signaling, expression of CD44 promotes the cellular response to lower concentrations of BMP7. © 2014 American College of Rheumatology.
