The Niche Market of Male Facial Plastic Surgery

A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction. —Oscar WildeWilde’s epigram may elicit a wry smile but does point out the traditional social bias that imposes a higher aesthetic standard on women than on men. Women’s looks are critiqued and “tweaked”; men are allowed to “mature.” Indeed, an overwhelming majority of patients seeking facial plastic surgery in the United States (and even more worldwide) are women. That trend is changing, however, and an increasing number of men are seeking facial plastic surgery, not only for predominantly male issues like male pattern alopecia but also for lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
