28 Impact of a Radiology cancer navigator role in conjunction with a chest reporting radiographer service on the lung cancer pathway

The patient journey through diagnosis& treatment for suspected lung cancer is complex. The journey usually begins with a GP requested chest x-ray and the pathway can be prolonged& confusing for patients. The introduction of the Single Cancer Pathway has further highlighted the need to improve the time to diagnostic tests and streamline the process for patient and MDT. We redesigned the service within the radiology service with the incorporation of 2 roles; that of an advanced practitioner navigator and a reporting radiographer.
