Why is Advocacy Important in Allergy?

Many in our profession ask the question posed in this article's title. Most of us just want to do our jobs and hope it all “works out,” because it almost always does. Too few understand the “Why” of how the practice of medicine led to our current state of affairs. The fact is that public policy set by federal, state, and local governments can have huge impacts on our ability to treat patients and maintain succes sful medical practices.
