Architecture Controls Phonon Propagation in All ‐Solid Brush Colloid Metamaterials (Small 13/2024)

Brush Particle SolidsThe self-assembly of polymer modified particles provides a path towards micro-structured hybrid materials that feature hybridization gaps, i.e., phononic band gaps that are robust against defect formation. The combination of Brillouin scattering and theory reveals that the formation of hybridization gaps is sensitive to the structure of polymers at interfaces and provides guidelines to render brush based colloids a platform for the self-assembly of efficient phononic materials.
