Acceptability of a new therapeutic horseback riding program and its impact on the functional capacity of older adults
Illness and dependence are not seen as inevitable consequences of old age. It is understood that there is a difference between chronological aging (passage of time), biological aging or senescence (increased sensitivity to aggressions from the internal and external environment) and senility (the pathological development of diseases) (Gordon and Hubbard, 2022; Traphagan, 2005). There is also social aging related to how people perform their functions in the environment in which they are inserted (Charles and Carstensen, 2010).
