Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome should be dead, we are just waiting on the obituary

In a not-so-distant past, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) was the most dreadful and frequent complication of assisted reproductive technology (ART). Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome consisted of a massive modification of vascular permeability resulting in extravasation of fluid in the so-called third space with the following two primary consequences: accumulation of fluid in the pelvic cavity and ascites formation, and hemoconcentration and reduction of the vascular volume leading to possible anuria as a result of prerenal failure and increased pressure in renal veins due ascites tension.
